What is an “I” endorsement?

Clive Grant is an AA certified and qualified Driving Instructor with an “I” endorsement. This means as well as being qualified to teach driving, he has been through a “fit and proper person” assessment. This confirms he has no transport-related offences, criminal convictions or past complaints. An “I” endorsement also requires a current Medical Certificate, Vision Test and of course a Driving Test (both written and practical).

What is the car you use?

Lessons include use of our car. Hamilton Driving Instructor employs an automatic 2021 Suzuki Swift. The car is dual controlled for safety. The Suzuki Swift is the latest in safety and technology with an ANCAP Safety 5 star rating. To achieve the maximum 5 star ANCAP safety rating, a vehicle must perform to the highest level across all crash tests and assessments (source: ANCAP).

Is insurance included?

The lesson cost fee includes the cost of insurance. However, there is a $400 to $1,000 excess (dependent on age) to be paid by the driver in the event of an accident. I hold General Liability insurance for up to two million dollars and Statutory Liability insurance for up to one million dollars. Hamilton Driving Instructor accepts no liability in the event of damage to your person, vehicle, property or third party.

Can I use my own vehicle?

Lessons in your own manual or automatic car are possible, and often it can be a benefit to have lessons in the car you will be driving and sitting any driving tests in. Your vehicle must registered and warranted, and have sufficient insurance coverage. This is your responsibility to organise and we reserve the right to verify before any lessons take place. Please check with your own insurer to ensure you have the correct cover. The lesson cost is the same whether we use your car or our dual controlled automatic Suzuki Swift.

I know I need to bring my license. What else?

The student must bring their driving licence with them for their lessons. We are legally unable to do any lessons if a student does not produce their licence. Students can avoid the cost of a last minute lesson cancellation by ensuring they have their licence at all times when they drive. Otherwise bring comfortable clothing and appropriate shoes for driving (no jandals, no open toe sandals, etc.).

Can I gift lessons?

Yes, you can. Give the gift of confidence and knowledge on the road through practical driving lessons. Simply contact us to arrange payment and we can schedule lessons to suit.

What is your privacy protection policy?

All credit card information is handled by Stripe and we do not see or handle any of your financial data. For more on our data privacy policy please see this page.
